Description
The Casa Rojo Enemigo Mio is a 100% Garnacha from a single vineyard of 4 hectares at the foot of the Sierra de La Pila, just in front of the winery located in the Tierra de Murcia. The vineyard has a northern orientation and is located on a clay soil. Jumilla 2022 vintage was overall a very dry vintage, with a fairly hot summer after a dry winter and spring in La Raja. This led to significant stress on the vines and significant over-ripening of the bunches, making the timing of harvest dates important. The manual harvest of Garnacha in 12 kilo boxes therefore started very early, on August 25, and was also picked at night, so that the grapes were finally received at the winery in 24 hours in excellent health and in record time. Less fruit than usual but in perfect condition. After picking, it ferments for a long period at a temperature of 22 degrees with a malolactic fermentation in French oak foudres of 11,000 liters and then another 4 months until stabilization before bottling. By choosing the right time to pick, but also due to the altitude and northern exposure, this Enemigo Mio has a very civilized alcohol percentage of 13.5%
The Casa Rojo Enemigo Mio is a wine with a beautiful cherry red color. The nose reveals the intense notes of youth, wild red fruits and licorice, accompanied by notes of balsamic and menthol. In the background, very light notes of toasted wood, elegant, subtle, always accompanied by the fruit as the protagonist. Fresh notes of wild herbs and spices. In the mouth it is a supple wine, again very fresh and long, with a surprising acidity and pleasant tannins.

ABOUT CASA ROJO
THE MOST IMPORTANT VIRTUE OF A WINE IS BALANCE” LAURA MUÑOZ-ROJO - At Casa Rojo they make wines with which José Luis and Laura feel identified. They have the luck and luxury to be able to produce in the areas where they have their roots and admire with the two grapes they are passionate about: Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) in the continental climate of La Ribera del Duero and the Monastrell in our Mediterranean homeland, Tierra de Murcia. Recently, the unique white grapes from Ribero - Galicia have been added, such as Verdejo, Albariño and Sauvignon Blanc. Casa Rojo's vision is clear. “A wine must be a maximum expression of the soil, the grapes, the local climate.”
Casa Rojo has been active since 2010, so it is a fairly young company, but Casa Rojo wines are now available in more than 40 countries, including the USA, Singapore, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, etc and demand exceeds supply. Not surprising because the quality of wines, the stories behind the wine and the selection are downright unique.
