Description
The 2022 harvest in Rias Baixas was mild and moist in spring, with moderate rainfall, allowing good development of the plants' canopy. The summer was hot and dry, which allowed the grapes to ripen well, and towards the end of summer and beginning of autumn, violent storms occurred which affected the harvest dates, although the result was very good.
The Marimorena is an autochthonous grape and is a grape that is very well adapted to the granite and clay soils of the area, which together with the microclimate of the area makes it so unique. The Albiriño grape is the king among the grapes in Galicia and the most beautiful wines from this grape come from the Rias Baixas. The harvest of the Albariño is done carefully by hand. The grapes come from vineyards oriented to the south of Galicia, bordered by the Miño River and crossed by the Tea River, which crosses the area from north to south. After careful selection of the grapes, they enter the cellar early in the morning for a cold maceration pre-fermentation on the skins for 10 hours. After alcoholic fermentation at an average temperature of 13 degrees, the wine is aged sur lie for more than 4 months on fine lees.
The Casa Rojo La Marimorena has a beautiful and bright lemon yellow color. On the nose it is frank and intense with floral aromas and very intense citrus aromas with hints of stone fruit. In the mouth it is very refreshing, with a very present but balanced freshness thanks to the volume it develops in the mouth. The aftertaste is elegant and persistent. This is an Albiriño as it should be with beautiful lively acidity and a fantastic salty Atlantic sea injection and this wine also calls for seafood such as oysters and mussels. This is also a wine that can age well for a few years thanks to its nice acidity.

ABOUT CASA ROJO
THE MOST IMPORTANT VIRTUE OF A WINE IS BALANCE” LAURA MUÑOZ-ROJO - At Casa Rojo they make wines with which José Luis and Laura feel identified. They have the luck and luxury to be able to produce in the areas where they have their roots and admire with the two grapes they are passionate about: Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) in the continental climate of La Ribera del Duero and the Monastrell in our Mediterranean homeland, Tierra de Murcia. Recently, the unique white grapes from Ribero - Galicia have been added, such as Verdejo, Albariño and Sauvignon Blanc. The vision of Casa Rojo is clear. “A wine must be a maximum expression of the soil, the grapes, the local climate.”
