Description
One of the top producers from Friuli and one of the most famous makers of Italian white is undoubtedly Silvio Jermann. The Jermann family estate is located in the far northeast of Italy in the hilly region of Friuli, near the Slovenian border, in the DOC Collio, and dates back to 1881. Since Silvio, the third generation, took over in 1975, there has been an enormous revolution took place. By continuously investing and making optimal use of the sandy and marly soil that is so suitable for the white grape varieties, he expressed his urge for innovation, with fantastic results. This made him a worldwide phenomenon. Elegance, depth, richness, structure and minerality characterize his wines, which are served in many star restaurants worldwide.
Vinnae is mainly made from Ribolla gialla supplemented with Riesling and Friulano. The Vionnae has a bright, pale straw yellow color with fruit aromas with a mineral undertone in the nose. On the palate it is dry, fresh and spicy with the understated elegance of an authentic Friuli wine. Vinnae is delicious as an aperitif and is an excellent match with a creamy risotto and grilled fish. Its freshness and irresistible drinkability make it the ideal summer white
The name Vinnae was created at the 1983 vintage to celebrate the birth of the second son Silvio Jermann and to commemorate the Jermann family's '100 years of viticulture in Villanova'. Five generations now work in the village's Collio vineyards, so they deserve the predicate "vinnaioli" or "wine growers". Hence the choice of the name "Vinnae". The label was restyled in 2004 with the addition of a symbol of the Austro-Hungarian origin of the Jermann family, a two-headed eagle found on an old barrel belonging to Silvio Jermann's great-grandfather Anton. The phrase "servus cella" is a reference to the cellar, while the mention of the varieties of the cuvée recalls the (triple) heritage of Slovenia, Friuli and Austria.
