Description
Panamera Chardonnay owes its existence to Steve Rued, a talented winemaker from California. With Panamera Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon he has managed to capture the Californian style in affordable versions, so it is not surprising that Panamera wines are among the most popular wines in the Netherlands and Belgium. Panamera is produced on the iconic Rutherford Ranch. This famous winery is located in perhaps the most beautiful wine region of California: Napa Valley. The favorable location of the vineyards in Central Valley and Central Coast, where a climate with lots of sun and relatively much wind prevails, makes the grapes firm without losing their subtle freshness. The use of different barrels also gives the wines a lot of character.
The Panamera is a 100% Chardonnay and characteristic of this Californian Chardonnay is the long, full and sturdy wood maturation that Panamera Chardonnay undergoes. Because Panamera has a mix of both old and new barrels, the white wine gets a lot of character. The grapes are harvested manually. The wine is fermented under controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. They want to give the wine as much fruitiness and a mineral character as possible. Maturation 6 to 8 months in French wooden barrels (80%) and American oak staves (20%). The Panamera Chardonnay is characterized by intense aromas of apple, apricots, vanilla and cinnamon. The attack is round and creamy with lively acids and the aftertaste is soft and fruity. The wood is certainly present, but what is great about this wine is that it also has sufficient freshness and fruit and has a good balance so that the wines do not become boring. The Panamera is a good accompaniment to grilled salmon, poultry and cheeses.

Wijnhuis
De Californische Steve Rued reisde de hele wereld over om zoveel mogelijk te leren over de kunst van het wijn maken. Zijn liefde voor Californië bracht hem echter terug naar zijn thuis. In 1993 ontmoette hij de Zuid-Afrikaanse Sonia, die op dat moment een seizoen vlakbij de wijngaarden van de Rued familie werkte. Steve en Sonia trouwden in 1996, waarna ze nog een aantal jaar hun eigen weg gingen. In 2000 brachten ze hun eerste vintage Rued Family wijn uit.
Sindsdien werkt het stel samen op de Rued Vineyards. Hier richten ze zich op het produceren van hun eigen Panamera wijnen, waarbij ze ernaar streven om het karakter van Californië zoveel mogelijk te benadrukken. De met de hand geoogste druiven zijn afkomstig van wijngaarden in Central Valley en Central Coast. Het fermentatieproces vindt plaats in roestvaststalen tanks, waar de Panamera onder gecontroleerde temperaturen een fruitig en mineraal karakter krijgt. De druiven worden langzaam geperst om de unieke aroma’s zoveel mogelijk te behouden. Vervolgens wordt de wijn nog zo’n zes tot acht maanden gerijpt in eikenhouten vaten. Het resultaat: drie krachtige premium wijnen.
Het bestaan van Panamera Chardonnay is te danken aan Steve Rued, een getalenteerde wijnmaker uit Californië. Met zijn Panamera Chardonnay en Cabernet wijn heeft hij de typische Calfonië stijl in een betaalbare versies weten te vatten. Panamera wordt geproduceerd op de iconische Rutherford Ranch. Dit befaamde wijnhuis is gesitueerd in misschien wel het mooiste wijngebied van Californië: Napa Valley Dankzij de perfect gelegen wijngaarden ontwikkelen de druiven zich optimaal. Het klimaat, met veel zon en de nodige wind, zorgt ervoor dat de chardonnay druiven stevig zijn, maar met behoudt van een subtiele frisheid. Niet gek dat de Panamera wijnen behoren tot één van de meeste populaire wijnen in Nederland en België.
