The Corbières appellation or sub-region, like the rest of central Languedoc, has a beautiful variety of landscape with mountains, plateaus and valleys carved out of a considerable variety of soils. The wines of the area have a character that is often wilder and rougher than that of the neighboring Minervois.

This roughness can be tamed by a few years of aging, which will reduce the robustness typical of red wines from the south of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah. Aging makes the wines more complete and (even) more balanced. The fruit is often given plenty of time and with little intervention as the Mediterranean wind around the Corbières massif creates a constant flow of air that cools the vineyards under the hot sun, creating a remarkable freshness that sharpens the typical southern weight and depth.
